From the cold of Canada to the warmth of southern Georgia, wearing a pair of mens Clark shoes is a comfortable experience.

A month ago I had a pair of Clarks on my feet as I attempted to dig my car out of a snowy ditch, which really wasn’t that fun (read here). Today I’m in southern Georgia and enjoying the warmth of the sun and I’m just as comfortable in the same pair of shoes. How many pairs of shoes do you own that are great in both extremely cold and nicely warm weather?

My latest pair are a pair of Clarks Wave Path (shown here). These shoes are absolutely fantastic. Just slip them on and off you go! Great feel, top quality materials, and ease of putting them on or taking them off make these shoes a joy to buy.

This isn’t the same story for all my Clarks shoes though. I have a pair of Clarks sneakers (same pair as shown at the top of this website) that sadly aren’t made for a Canadian or northern US winter. The souls of the shoes are great for taking walks during the summertime however they are a bit thin for winter and lack the tread to hold up to icy weather.

Clark Wallabees are perfect for great for winter weather and don’t do too bad during the summer (assuming it’s still pants weather). While I enjoy the feel and look (yes, I like the look too), these shoes aren’t the greatest for hot summer days because they look incredibly funny if worn with shorts. It’s in weather like that in which you need to start looking at some sandals.

Stories of heroism and bravery are great, however this isn’t one of them, just an annoyed person who spent far too long in a snowy ditch digging out his car.

Heading out when it’s snowing isn’t a great idea unless you really have to. When my wife forgot to pack her hairdryer after a two week long road trip across the US, I quickly learned a trip to the store was mandatory regardless of the weather or road conditions (so I’m told anyway). Everything went well, we purchased a new fancy hairdryer and had a fantastic lunch. Now that I think about it… she forgot her hairdryer and we had to buy a brand new hairdryer, with all the attachments the other one didn’t have, with multiple heat settings, negative ions, ceramic blah blah blah, etc… hmm, did she really “forget”? Sounds a little too convenient to me.

So the trip back was eventful to say the least. Roads were horrible and going over 20 mph in town was impossible. As we maneuver around corners and ruts carved into the deep snow, we managed to make it to the highway with a very impatient road warrior in a 4×4 behind us. The highway looked decent but there was only one clean lane after the merging lane ended. My wife and I (four months pregnant by the way.. my wife, not me) started down the merging lane onto the highway when the road warrior decided it was a great idea to speed up and go around us. At this point we were going 40 mph and the end of the merging lane was coming up very quickly. We tried to slow down to let the 4×4 pass however he wasn’t passing us and was blocking us from changing lanes. We were doing more sliding than slowing down and as our lane came to an end, he was still blocking us. I’m an experienced driver, especially in bad conditions, but this was a bad day to be on the roads and I knew we were in trouble when we hit a patch of snow just before the lanes merged. The road warrior slowed down enough so we could move over however we were in the middle of fish-tailing and fighting to control the car. At one point I think we were sliding sideways, which is fine if you’re not moving however we were still going 20 mph. At this point I would normally turn the wheel into the turn so we could complete the 180 on the highway however we unfortunately found a dry patch of cement and we flew into the ditch.

After we came to a complete stop and I could see that my wife was okay, I looked out the window and saw the road warrior driving away. “Thanks Jerk!” (okay, maybe I didn’t say jerk)

We were stuck.

Armed with a dust pan (I like a clean car) and wearing a nice pair of Mens Clark shoes on my feet, I went out into the two feet of snow and started to “shovel” our vehicle out. After about an hour, I managed to clear a path behind the vehicle to the highway and was starting on all the snow packed underneath the car. A few people stopped to ask if we were okay however no one stopped to help. Finally, when I was on my (cold) knees and reaching under to pull snow out, a truck stopped with flashing lights and it was a volunteer fireman. He pulled out a strap, hooked it onto the car, and before we knew it, we were out of the ditch. I was so grateful I offered to reward the gentleman for his help but he refused saying he was only doing his job. I even offered to buy him lunch or a drink, but he declined again. This was a true example of heroism.

Because this is a Clarks website, it should be pointed out that throughout the entire digging process, my feet remained warm a toasty. Hands frozen, ankles cold and wet, but feet warm and dry.

Thanks again to the volunteer fireman that pulled us out. He didn’t give his name, only his time and some kindness on a cold winter day.

Made from the highest quality materials, Clark Wallabees are a leader in comfort and style. Made exclusively from leather, suede, beeswax leather, oily leather, canvas, and a gum sole, it’s no wonder why thousands of people have purchased a pair (or two, or three..).

What’s Changed Since The 1960s?

Lots of things have changed since the 1960s. Over the past few decades, advancements in technology and ease of getting high quality materials has made it easier for Clarks to continue to produce high quality, comfortable shoes. While Clark Wallabees shoes have been around for decades, Clarks hasn’t left them in the past or outdated. While you can still get the classic Clark Wallabees shoes, there are now several styles available including oxfords, hiking shoes, and boots. Originally only for men, Clarks now makes several attractive styles of Wallabees for women, such as the Clark Wallabees Low Top!

You will probably never hear anyone say that the Clark Wallabees shoes are the sexiest shoes on the market today. In fact, you’ll probably never hear anyone say they are sexy at all.. but what you will hear are thousands and thousands of customers saying that the Clark Wallabees shoes are the most comfortable shoes they own. Don’t take our word for it, try on a pair. After you slip your feet into a pair you’ll quickly feel just how fantastic they are!

Quality, comfort, and style are just three reasons to buy a pair of Clarks Wallabees shoes.

Is there such thing as Clarks slippers?

You bet your cold feet there are! You have no idea how thrilled I was to find out that there was such thing as Clarks slippers! Up until recently I was wearing a pair of ratty old Uggs. I know what you’re saying… Uggs are very popular and a very large brand name. Very true for both, and expensive as well. My big issue with the Ugg brand is that they are no longer the great company they used to be (in my mind anyway). Ugg used to be an awesome Australian company that made amazing shoes, boots, and slippers. Rumor has it, they sent a few pairs of their boots to some famous actors (no longer politically correct to say actresses?) and their massive popularity began once the media got a few pictures of them. Once business started booming, they outsourced their product like so many other companies to maximize their profits.

A funny story about Uggs (yes I know, this is suppose to be about Clarks). Uggs sent their boots in 2005 to a number of famous actors (as previously mentioned). One of the actors was Pamela Anderson (famous for also being a supporter of PETA… People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and she loved them! There are tons of pictures all over the internet and in magazines of her wearing them. In 2007, Anderson realized they were made of animal skins and posted on her website, “I thought they were shaved kindly? People like to tell me all the time that I started that trend — yikes! Well let’s start a new one — do NOT buy Uggs! Buy Stella McCartney or juicy boots.” I’m not entirely sure what she thought they were made of, but yes, they are made of animal skin.

Back to Clarks, there are a number of different types of Clarks slippers on the market today. One of the warmest (and I have a pair), are the Clarks Men’s Suede Leather Moccasin Slippers. There are also women’s moccasin slippers as well. This new line comes complete with removable comfort insols, cozy pile lining, leather uppers, and has half sizes. All this while still maintaining their high level of quality construction and quality materials.

Also worth noting is that Clarks also makes a number of other types of Clarks slippers. One of my favorites, and probably my next purchase are the ones below. For the life of me I can’t find the name of them however I tried them on when I was in NY and if my feet could sing a happy song, it would have been when I first put them into these slippers. They were so comfy and easy to slip on/off. The one thing that I’ve noticed with Clarks is that no matter what you are buying from them, mens Clark shoes, women’s Clarks shoes, Clarks slippers… it doesn’t really matter, they are all fantastic.

If you’ve got a favorite or something new has come out that I’m not aware of, please send me a message through the Contact Us form.
